Planet Visible

This week NASA released the first visible light images of a planet outside of our solar system, orbiting a different star. The Hubble Space Telescope pictures demonstrate the planet Fomalhaut b orbiting the 200-million-year-old star Fomalhaut (just a youngster compared to our Sun). The planet (shown in the small white box) is thought to be roughly the size of Jupiter, with twice its mass. Fomalhaut b has an 872-earth-year orbit, severely limiting Hallmark's birthday card business on the newly observed planet.

UPDATE: Yes, it does look like the Eye of Sauron. And of course James Carville looks like Gollum.
