New Administration Announces Stem Cell Policy

Newspapers from Britain to Australia are busily reporting on Obama's every move, but at the top of everyone's list of forward motion is the end of U.S. restrictions on Embryonic Stem Cell research.

As the Bush administration cleans out its desks, it is issuing final executive orders, such as controversial directives to drill in pristine environments in Utah.

John Podesta, who is coordinating the transition from the Democratic side, seemed to warn the outgoing administration not to waste valuable time and energy on controversial right-wing initatives that would be the equivalent of an outlaw in an old western throwing his empty six-shooter at his pursuers.
