Census of Marine Life

As Graham Hawkes will tell you, we know relatively little about the oceans that cover two-thirds of the planet, and almost nothing about the deepest waters. The findings of the ambitious Census of Marine Life, to be published this week, will shed light on a startling number of new and reconsidered species from giant bacteria to white sharks. The report will be in journal Cladistics. (h/t LiveScience)
