The Nobel Prize in Literature

The Nobel Prize in Literature will be awarded to French writer Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio. The committee cited the 68-year-old Le Clezio as an "author of new departures, poetic adventure and sensual ecstasy, explorer of a humanity beyond and below the reigning civilization". Despite having a home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Le Clezio is largely unknown in America with much of his work not translated to English or out of print. More on Le Clezio, including an interview, is on the Nobel Prize website.
