Nobel Prize in Chemistry

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry will be awarded to Japan's Osamu Shimomura and Americans Martin Chalfie and Roger Y. Tsien for their discovery of green fluorescent protein (GFP), a huge contribution to fluorscence microscopy and the understanding of cell biology and mechanisms. GFP was first isolated from bioluminescent jellyfish.
